Process

In a recent series "Filaments" I have been further experimenting with masking and layers.  I usually start with a layer of random color, using broad brushstrokes of acrylic paint. When dry, I create linear patterns with glue - usually petroleum gum.  Then I paint over this layer with more acrylic paint.  When dry, I remove the glue.  Then I accentuate the lines with black marker pen, and sometimes paint into the spaces between the lines, building up a strange world of floating, intertwining amorphous shapes.
