Filaments encircle a glimpse of a cat with shadows of turkey buzzards flying high.
Filaments Series
This series developed as I experimented with abstract and random shapes and tendril-like patterns. I painted a layer of acrylic paint, then dripped and threw on rubber cement creating a resist for the second layer of paint. After removing the glue they started to look like the neurons of the brain, and I accentuated those images. I then used sharpies to outline some of the random linear shapes and they began to resemble strange alien creatures or hieroglyphs. The paintings can be seen as alternately microscopic images or satellite images, brain waves or weather maps. Giclee prints are available of selected artworks. Please contact the artist for further information.
